To show the sub-drainage basins on Chuuk.
This dataset shows the subdrainage basins (also referred to as sub-watershed or catchments) on Chuuk. It was derived by Maria Kottermair, Island Research & Education Initiative (iREi)(2020). Basin boundaries were delineated through hydrological modeling using a 10-meter Digital Elevation Model (DEM) created by U.S. Geological Survey (2001) based on topography compiled in 1968. Note that apparently unnatural boundaries such as series of straight, parallel lines are artifacts of modeling and do not reflect reality.

1. Ran hydrologic model using ArcHydro (fill, flow direction, flow accumulation, etc); 3. Clipped output features with updated shoreline; 4. Cut polygons if they extended over two watersheds; 5. Added additional attributes including watershed ID from watershed shapefile (derived from same model).
