Type Shapefile
To show the location of a quarry on Kosrae.
This dataset shows the location of the principal quarry on Kosrae. Smaller quarries exist and are not shown. The data layer was created by Island Research & Education Initiative (iREi) (2019) from KML file created by Joyminda Palokoa George (2019) specifically for this Digital Atlas.

The completeness of the data is unknown but should be consistent with the level of information normally shown on U.S. Geological Survey 1:24,000-scale topographic maps.
Attribute accuracy is tested by manual comparison of the source with hard copy plots and/or symbolized display of the digital line graph on an interactive computer graphic system. Through inspection and queries, attempts were made to ensure completeness and consistency of attribute values.
Features seem to be about 5-30 meters off compared to the 2016 WorldView-3 satellite imagery.

1. Extracted features of interest from crit_fac_bldgs_pni_utmz57.shp; 2. Formatted attribute table and added fields (name, source, etc).
A shapefile named crit_fac_bldgs_pni_utmz57.shp (derived from the DLGs) was obtained by the Island Research & Education Initiative (iREi) as part of a data collection effort over many years and from a variety of sources. Many of the original sources are unknown due to incomplete or missing metadata, but mostly include NGOs and state and national government agencies in the FSM. This particular layer was most likely created by the Kosrae State Government. The dataset was obtained by iREi prior to 2012.
