Municipalities

Municipalities [areas]

This map shows the six municipalities of Pohnpei. The original data, so-called Digital Line Graphs (DLSs), were created by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for the 1:25,000-scale topographic maps (2001). The data were modified by Island Research & Education Initiative (iREi) (2017) to fit the most recent base layer. At the same time, iREi added the municipality of Kolonia, which was defined as the sum of Kolonia Town parcels recorded by Public Lands and digitized by Department of Land and Natural Resources ca. 2005. Those parcels were merged into one polygon and cut from Nett Municipality, of which Kolonia was a part of until 1965. Note that boundaries shown in this map are not definite. This map does not constitute any sort of recommendation, claim, or endorsement.
